World's Highest Waterfall

Keywords: Venezuela,South America,Venezuelans,Waterfall,Highest Waterfall,World's Highest Waterfall,Tumbles,3212,River,Aeroplance,James Angel,1935,

World's Highest waterfall is known as the Angel Falls and lies on the River Carrao. The world's highest water fall is in Venezuela, South America. This magnificent water fall tumbles 3,212 feet down to the river.

The Venezuelans did not even know about Angel Falls or the surrounding country until the 1930s, because steep rocks made overland travel to the region impossible. It was not until aircraft started penetrating the region that the falls were discovered.

The falls get their name from the United States adventurer and explorer James Angel who crashed near them in an aeroplane in 1935.

Hitler was the cruelest leader I have ever heard about. He didn't show his mercy even on little children. Who were jews or of other lower castes. He killed them in 'Gas chambers' which was known as 'Final solution' then.

Nazi means National Socialist German Worker's Party.

Hitler is the founder of the Nazi party in Germany.A person who belongs to this National Socialist German Worker's Party is called a Nazi. This party gained prominence under Adolf Hitler in 1933 but was started in 1919. It remained in power till 1945.

The Nazis who pray to jesus always hate the jews the disciples of yahova. Nazis were very arrogant towards jews they treated them as slaves and finally the high and mighty Nazi party came to an end. The hatered for Nazis towards the jews is neatly sketched in the movie Schindler's List.

A person who belongs to this National Socialist German Worker's Party is called a Nazi. This party gained prominence under Adolf Hitler in 1933 but was started in 1919. It remained in power till 1945.

Frogs Breathe

Keywords: Frogs,Breathe,Under Water,Cold-blooded,Amphibian,Lungs,Frogs Breathe,Frogs Under Water,Frog,Winter,Skins,Nostrils,Mammals,Reptiles,Body Muscles,

3. HOW DO FROGS BREATHE UNDER WATER?

Frogs are cold-blooded. That means they are as warm or as cold as the air or water surrounding them. In winter they hibernate under water, where their body temperature falls, their bodily functions are kept at a minimum and breathing is carried on entirely through the skin.

Under water, frogs breathe through their skins. A frog is an amphibian, That is to say it lives both on land and in water. It has lungs, but it has no ribs and therefore cannot expand its chest and suck air into its lungs as do reptiles, birds and mammals. On land air is drawn in and out of the frog's nostrils, which have valves in them, by pulsations of the floor of the mouth, The air is forced in and out of the lungs by contractions of the throat and body muscles. A frog's mouth is always kept tightly closed and the pulsations of the throat vary from 120-140 a minute.

Even on land the plays a greater part in breathing than the lungs. However, air can be absorbed only through a moist skin. If the skin becomes too dry, the frog will die. There fore the skin contains glands which secrete a clear mucus or slime whose function is to keep the skin moist and supple. The skin absorbs water as well as air, for frogs do not drink.

First Wristwatch

The fist self-winding wrist-satch was invented by John Harwood, an Englishman who patented it in 1924. Today the largest watchmaking industry in the world is concentrated in the Jura Mountains and the valley of the Aar in Switzerland.

The exact time the first wristwatch appeared is not known. But soon after the beginning of the 20th century women small pocket watches began to be fitted into specially made leather or gold adaptors to be worn on the wrist. They were immediately successful, and their popularity rapidly in creased in the First World War because they could be consulted without undoing a coat or uniform jacket.

BIRDS MIGRATE

 Keywords: Birds,Migrate,Summer,Migration,Birds Migrate,Winter,Migratory Birds,When Birds Migrate,

At the end of summer millions of birds of many different varieties migrate from one place to another place. With unfailing regularity they leave the regions where they were born to fly to warmer climates for the winter. The following spring they return to their breeding grounds.

Each year these migratory birds travel as much as 20000 miles, finding their way back on time with extraordinary precision. Some travel as individuals.

Migration is triggered off by the length of daylight, which apparently affects the birds nervous systems. When the days get shorter the birds receive the signal to leave for their warmer winter grounds, and, when the daylight increases to a certain level, they receive another signal to return home.

Telephone Invented

 Keywords: Alexander,Graham,Bell,Alexander Graham Bell,Telephone Invented,Telephone,10 March,1876,Thomas A. Edison,United States,First Telephone Invented,Queen,Victoria,Phone,

Alexander Graham Bell inventor of Telephone was born in 1847 and died in 1922.

In 1874 He said,
" If I could make a current of electricity vary in intensity precisely as the air varies in density during the production of sound, I should be able to transmit speech telegraphically". This is the principle of the telephone.

Alexander Graham Bell invented and patented in 1876 the first telephone that was of any real practical use.

On March 10, 1876, the first historic message was telephoned to Thomas A. Watson, Bell's assistant, who was in another room: " Mr Watson, come here; I want you."
Bell's first machine gave electrical currents too feeble to be of much use for the general public.

In 1877 the American scientist Thomas A. Edison (1847-1931) invented the variable-contact carbon tranmitter, which greatly increased the power of the signals.

The telephone was immediately popular in the United States, but Bell found little interest in Britain when he visited the country in 1878. Then Queen Victoria asked for a pair of telephones and the royal interest resulted in a London telephone exchange being formed in 1879 with eight subscribers.

Teasel Plants Used For
Teasels are used in the making of woollen cloth. The common tasel grows wild in England and Wales and southern parts of scotland. It is also found in Europe, Asia and North Africa.

The teasel has large prickly flower heads which remain on the dead stems through out the winter. The actual flowers are tiny deep lilac florets and round the base of the flowerhead there is a ring of spines. The stem and leaves are prickly and the leaves are joined at the stem to collect rain-water.

There is also a garden teasel called fuller's teasel, which has little hooks at the end of the spines, or bracts, surrounding the base of the flowerhead. This is the teasel that is used in the making of woollen cloth. is it interesting? :D

The cloth is brushed up with the teasels so that the fibres of wool become separated from each other. This is known as "Teasing".
This is some pictures of woolen Cloth.

Woolen Cloth is highly demanded in India,England,Europe etc.. so be rememmbered that your woolen cloth was made by the help of Teasel Plants :D.

WHERE DOES A SWALLOW BUILD ITS NEST?

A swallow builds its nest inside farm buildings and on ledges in old chimneys. The nest is mad of mud, straw and saliva, with feathers and wool to line the inside. It takes a pair of swallows up to several weeks to make the saucer0shaped nest in the rafters of a barn.

Swallows start arriving in Europe at the end of March, a little earlier than their close relatives, the house martins. They spend the winter in South Africa and usually return to the same district and even the same nest-where they settled before. The female lays four or five eggs, white with reddish-brown speckles. She sits on them for about 15 days before they hatch out. Both parents then feed the nestlings with insects which they catch while flying. Swallows usually lay two sets of eggs.

They leave for their winter quarters in September, gathering in large flocks and often perching on telephone wires, before setting off. The young birds of the first brood leave before their parents and, by an in born knowledge, know which way to go.

WHY DO DOGS HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF SMELL?

Dogs have a better sense of smell than we do because the physical structure of a dog is better adapted for scenting odours. In dogs this sense has remained keen, while in man it has become comparatively dull. Dogs use scent in feeding, detecting enemies, recognizing mates and offspring and in rivalry.

The chemical sense of smell is chemo reception and the sense organs chemo receptors. But there is little in the structure of the nose to provide clues about its mechanism, and relatively little is known about how smell works. There are no accessory structures in the nose and the receptors and nerve fibres leading to the brain are so fine that they are difficult to study. The chemo receptors of human beings, dogs and other mammals lie in a cleft in each nostril.

During quiet breathing the main flow of air by passes the cleft. But when a mammal sniffs, air is drawn into the clefts and over about half a square inch of yellowish tissue in which are embedded several million chemo receptors. They are long thin cells with hair like crowns making a web lying on the surface of the tissue which is bathed in mucus. These are connected to a part of the brain called the olfactory bulb, the size of which is a fair indication of the keenness of the sense of smell.

The olfactory bulb of a dog is much larger than that of a man. The moist nose of a dog also aids his sense of smell.

Smells are immensely important to dogs as we see from the way they refuse to by-pass a scent without investigating it and very often, adding to it. They mark their home range and investigate passers-by. Their keen sense has been used by man as many thousands of years.
